Cogioba Roundtable

Roundtable Meetings are for all Boy and Cub Scout Leaders and are held on a monthly basis from 7 - 8 pm on the 1st Thursday of every month at First Church of the Nazarene, 150 Richview Road, Clarksville TN 37043.

Basic Gear

Kitchen kit

[   ] 1 stove (tuna can “cat”stove, shared by 2 hikers)
[   ] 1 windscreen (heavy duty aluminum foil)
[   ] 1 pot stand
[   ] 1 fuel bottle (empty 10 oz plastic coke bottle, shared by 2 hikers)
[   ] fuel (denatured alcohol)
[   ] fire starter (water proof matches, SMALL butane lighter/bic)
[   ] 1 cook pot/lid (will be shared by two hikers)
[   ] 1 small scrubber sponge (cut in half) (shared by two hikers)
[   ] spoon & knife (Lexan plastic set can be bought at Wal Mart in camping section) no metal spoons or knife sets
[   ] bowl (one hiker eats from cook pot, the other eats from a bowl)
[   ] Kitchen size plastic garbage bagsbags (for trash)
[   ] stuff sack (for kitchen kit)

clothing
[   ] poncho (light weight tyvek material) (4 oz)
[   ] fleece shirt (non-cotton)
[   ] shirts (2) (non-cotton) Cotton Kills
[   ] shorts (2 pair) (non-cotton)
[   ] lightweight nylon long pants or non-cotton insulated underwear 1 pair
[   ] non-cotton socks (2 pair)
[   ] boots/sneakers (NO NEW BOOTS OR SHOES)
[   ] knit cap or balaclava (non-cotton)
[   ] ball cap (lightweight)
[   ] cotton bandanna (2 each/different colors) one is to be used as water filter when needed, WASH before hike.
[   ] stuff sack (for clothes) use as pillow

Toilet Kit
[   ] toothbrush (cut 1” off of the handle)
[   ] toothpaste (small tube, can be shared with other hiker) if out for week squeeze half out before leaving
[   ] soap (biodegradable, small bottle for two people)(WalMart has it in camping area) one bottle will last two people two to three weeks!
[   ] toilet paper (2 half rolls)
[   ] plastic tent peg (for digging cat holes)
[   ] baby wipes (unscented) great for taking a dry bath will use about 5 per day (heavy but worth it)

Personal Items
[   ] camera (light weight)
[   ] pen (waterproof ballpoint)
[   ] small journal

Repair kit
[   ] duct tape (wrapped several times around water bottles) use for first aid to repairing pack and clothes
[   ] large needle with dental floss

First Aid
[   ] prescription meds
[   ] SMALL tube of sun screen
[   ] small packet of triple ointment

Things you CAN NOT carry

bulletcell phones (most of the time they don’t work and the battery is dead and it is dead weight)
bulletmusic devices (MP3, I pods, CD players, tape players, TVs, radios, DVD players etc) batteries will not last but a day or two at best and
bulletit becomes dead weight the rest of the time, learn to enjoy the sounds of nature
